Lovely hideaway in the hills

Pros: Beautiful location in the olive groves. Super-relaxing place to stay, lovely pool, staff couldn't have been more helpful. Good base for exploring western Crete, lots of walks advice available. Breakfasts and dinners (optional) were excellent, and there are also plenty of tavernas nearby for when you want to eat out.

Cons: Rooms and bathrooms are just slightly old-fashioned, but that's part of the 'traditional' charm. Blankets were rather small for the bed (and it wasn't cold enough for heavy duvet). The approach from the National road is narrow and a little scary at first, but you soon get used to it and also realise there are other options.

Pros: we had a a great time in this hotel. the room was cozy, clean and had everything you need. also every room has a private seating area outside underneath the olive trees. we also had dinner at the location and the food was amazing. we also used the pool frequently. the pool was always clean, had a great size and the view was amazing. They offered very nice options for breakfast. One of the employees also cooked at night and she was so kind and welcoming. she truly cared about our experience at the hotel.

Cons: the owner of the property is not the friendliest person. we always felt a bit judged and she did not seem very engaged in running the business.

Pros: A beautiful location amongst the olive groves with spectacular views. A good place to relax and explore nearby hikes and restaurants. We did some lovely wine and olive oil tastings nearby. Breakfast was fantastic!

Cons: Nothing!

Perfect to find mindfulness, enjoy Mediterranean nature and explore Crete.

Pros: Everything was perfect. Easy to find, great location, amazing views, outstanding staff.

Pros: The location is fabulous and the people are terrific. It is perfect place for an escape - stress-free - perfect. The views are amazing and the food excellent. Could not be better.

Pros: The hotel is a great location in the area to do different activities around Crete (hiking, visiting Chania, or to drive to a beach). The breakfast was the best we had in Crete and the host was very friendly and made you feel welcome. You have the option to book dinner. They serve delicious typical healthy cretan food.The garden of the hotel is a small paradise. You can simply enjoy all the flowers and wildlife, or relax at the pool with a great view.Very relaxing and refreshing to get out of the fast paced day to day life. Would recommend it anytime.

Charming, laid-back and tastefully done-up

Pros: Beautiful charming old house and garden, surrounded by olive groves. Every room has its own little outside bit, in addition to the top terrace with the view you see in the pictures. Friendly staff, laid-back atmosphere, lovely pool with a view and it was still working and warm enough to swim in in late October. (No hot tub or anything like that though). Comfortable bed and pillows, beautiful furniture in the room. Powerful hot shower. We also very much appreciated that they made up the room every day.

Cons: We were a bit disappointed with the breakfasts, having had high expectations from some of the other reviews on here. OK, but nothing really delicious.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay - happy to recommend the Elia Hotel as a place to stay.

Pros: Excellent hotel in a great location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good and all in all we had a great stay. I would recommend Elia Hotel & Spa as a place to stay.

Cons: There was nothing I didn't like.

Good place for a peaceful holiday but make sure to book a deluxe room

Pros: Efi is delightful and very helpful with ideas of where to go, etc. The hotel is in a very rural situation surrounded by lovely olive groves. The view from the dining area (up steep steps) and from the pool area is stunning. Pool is lovely with hardly anyone there. Good breakfasts with plenty of choice.

Cons: The standard room (which we booked) was really tiny and crammed with a lot of heavy furniture. The bed was very narrow and not adequate for two adults. Bathroom again very small indeed. Sadly the view from the room was into high trees and bushes making the room dark.

A lovely quiet rural hotel.

Pros: Breakfast was superb for such a small hotel. Location very rural so a car is vital. We had the small room (last one available when we wanted to travel), but it was plenty big enough for two with a good bathroom.
