Traditional Villa Askyfou

Pros: It was a great joy and blessing for us to stay in a house like this. So unique and full of beautiful images. The village was very special, giving us the chance to experience the Cretan countryside. The hosts, Yiannis and Maria, were more than friendly and helpful; they made us feel at home. We will definitely come back in the future with a larger group, as this house can fully accommodate it.

Pros: An amazing house combining all modern comforts with a unique journey into the past and its history. We were two families with our children and we truly had a wonderful time. The kids absolutely loved the small pool, and the whole pool area felt magical, offering breathtaking views. Our hosts were exceptional — they suggested great traditional restaurants and beautiful places worth visiting, helping us enjoy every moment of our stay. We will definitely come back soon! Pros: Excellent choice for holidays !!!The house and the entire area around it are the best opportunity to experience this unique island. The history of the place is fully reflected in this special house, both inside and out. The hospitality of our host captivated us; it is truly what many call ‘Cretan hospitality.’ The village taverns offer fantastic, local food. We will definitely visit again!”

Perfect place to experience real Crete without tourist crowds

Pros: Great localization in a rural area in mountainous Crete. Picturesque view on nearby mountains, even from very nice swimming pool. A comfortable terrace for common meals and evening social gatherings. Our hosts Giannis & Maria povided us perfect remote assistance. High recommendations for them.

Cons: A little too dark interiors of the house but it is specific for such old houses. It was not big problem for us because the most of time we were spending outside.

Gorgeous house with some oddities

Pros: Beautiful renovated house on a gorgeous location. In the middle of Crete. Close to the Imbros Gorge. The House has stunning view over the Askyfou Valley and you can enjoyed that view from the infinity pool on the top terrace. One 3 terrasses, following the mountain the house has is been built on. Inside de decoration is spot on and the house is full of history.

Cons: The sleeping rooms are not divided, so there is less privacy and there a lot stairs to climb. Some of them are a bit skew.

We had a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back.

Pros: The Villa has the most spectacular location. Tranquil and beautiful views. Nights spent stargazing and days swimming and watching eagles circling in the sky. Friendly and very welcoming hosts.

House with stunning views and potential improvements to give it a 10/10 would recommend

Pros: The property is located in an idyllic village and to disconnect this place is Stunning beyond words. The hosts were amazing and they were readily available when we had an issue. Also get the lamb from Giannis contact you will not be disappointed with the price and quality. 5 stars. Highly recommended.

Cons: The lack of privacy like the others have said is an element that I would look into since you can hear everything especially when you go to the bathrooms. And the stairs were steep and you need to be cautious when you go up and down the house. We also had an incident with the water where it was not working. Giannis tried to fix it as fast as he can and it was never the less an unpleasant surprise to find the inside of the house wet; we were unable to take a shower and the pipes were loud enough to wake the whole house. I would double-triple check that the water system is updated or at least have a quick checklist of qualitative nature to ensure the water system is updated.

Pros: Poolområdet, God udsigt og rummeligt hus. Søde og hjælpsomme værter der hjalp med at booke udflugter.

Great place for quite vacation away from the crowds.

Pros: Quite and a bit isolated location in an old village with beautiful view over the valley. Still, close to some excellent restaurants and good supermarkets and only 40 minutes drive to the beach on both sides of the island. The pool and othe outdoor areas are fantastic. We had great time.

Cons: Some of the rooms and bathrooms are with limited privacy because they are not closed. Be prepared for some steep staircases inside the house
