The Botanist Rooms

Easy location for arriving from Chania airport and for exploring the old town of Chania.

Pros: Great location in the old town, perfect for exploring the old streets and for visiting the harbour front with lots of local tavernas to choose from. Friendly host was waiting for us at the time we said we would arrive. Spotlessly clean room, well appointed, everything you needed for a comfortable stay, views in two directions - one along the street and the other a side view of the sea, excellent breakfast outside, served at tables in the street. Free mini gifts of raki, honey, olive oil and herbs. It's clear they have put a lot of thought in and gone to a lot of effort to create a pleasant environment for their guests.

Cons: Awkward access to second floor room for those less able bodied. Our room door was located mid-staircase on a bend - this could be perhaps made a bit easier with light switches in more accessible places as we found ourselves trying to feel our way in the dark a couple of times and were concerned about tripping/falling. Was however navigable with care and practice. Second morning was rainy and we were told there was no option to have the prepaid breakfast (because it was served outside) and no alternative was offered nor a refund offered for the breakfast. I'm sure this doesn't happen often but I do feel they could have provided something to have in our room. However, we did ask for a takeaway coffee. Aside from this I'd have given the Botanist a 10/10

Amazing!!

Pros: Our stay in the botanist rooms was far better than we expected!! The host was one of the friendliest we’ve ever met - he was going out of his way all the time to make sure we were happy. The breakfast was amazing - every day we got one egg meal, Greek yoghurt or oatmeal with honey and dried fruit, something sweet, coffee, water and freshly squeezed orange juice - we could barely eat it all and we were fuelled for the whole day! The room was nice, we were provided with everything we needed. The host let us stay past the checkout time without any trouble or additional fees. And the location was absolutely perfect for exploring the best of Chania. The whole experience was great, we cannot recommend this place enough!! Go there and you won’t regret it!!!

A perfect experience in the heart of the old city of Chania.

Pros: The location was perfectly situated in the heart of the old town. It had perfect access to all restaurants and amenities. What really delighted us was that you were able to have both long walks in the old town and enjoy beautiful walks and views in the old habour and also an easy walk to the new city where the locals do their shopping. All in all a perfect location.

Cons: Shower need attention. Despite being a cubicle, water leaves the tray and floods the bathroom floor

I enjoyed Chania a lot! Definitely worth visiting!

Pros: I liked the guys working at the bar - very friendly. I liked the location - close to everything and you could see sunrises and sunsets from your room while looking at the old harbour at the same time.

Cons: there were few things: -entrance was soo small and uphill -downstairs there was a bar full of people until late at night - couldn't sleep - we had 2 separated bedrooms but 1 had no door, disappointed with that (shouldn't be called separated then)

Chania old town is great to explore and this is a good place to be based. Everything is within walking distance.

Pros: The apartment was on the edge of the old town with easy access to shops and other facilities. The breakfasts were great and staff were friendly.

Cons: Late night noise- I didn’t realise the cafe was also a cocktail bar.

Amazing stay, great location and wonderful staff

Pros: We liked everything. Truly exceptional, the location was amazing. The owner Mr. Kostas was very friendly and helped us with everything we needed. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and had everything you needed. Ms. Evi was also a very kind hearted person who helped us with what to do in our amazing vacation and she is truly a wonderful person. The breakfast was also very good. Overall our stay at the botanist rooms was everything we needed. 100% staying here again.

A super central place right near the attractions, perfect for some

Pros: The place was very central right by the harbour. The lighthouse was right outside, and the old city was right there. Our host he was very welcoming. His cafe is right at the entrance. The room was in the classic building renovated to provide modern amneties like air-conditioning, which was super good and kept cool on a hot summer day. He had a basket with small bottles and honey herbs offered as freebies. A small convienent room. For our two days stay, it was perfect because we wanted a central location where we could just walk around. The included was super tasty. For the breakfast alone I would recommend the place.

Cons: There are free parking lots outside on the other side by street, it fills up quite quickly but we were lucky a spot was available. Although convenient in a central location, one can hear the bustle bustle of the streets, cafe, markets. Depends on what one wants, we enjoyed the liveliness but if you are looking for something calm and relaxing maybe not something. Otherwise it's a great place to stay right next to major attractions.

Pros: I liked everything! The location in the old town, next to the sea is just perfect. You get breakfast with the sea view and still you're surrounded with old, rocky buildings. There is free public parking nearby, quite busy but we got it anyway. Breakfast was the best one I had during my stay in Crete. Freshly made with local ingredients, very rich and delicious. Great coffee. The owner is super friendly, helpful and always there where you need him. The room was very clean, comfortable and with the view on old, narrow street on one side and Venetian fortress on the other. The room itself is smaller but comfortable.

Cons: That I couldn't stay more days.

Pros: Die Lage ist zentral, am Meer und in der schönsten Altstadtlage. Personal außergewöhnlich freundlich, Frühstück sehr gut. Wir kommen imer wieder gerne.
