Lucky find in Kalyves – great stay at Koulouris with a lovely pool

Pros: We discovered the village of Kalyves by chance – we had previously stayed nearby, but decided to remain in Kalyves, and luckily, one room became available at Koulouris. That was a real stroke of luck, as the place is usually fully booked. The location is perfect – just a few steps from the beach, a supermarket, and several excellent restaurants. While it’s a bit of a longer walk to the town center and the main beach (and public transportation is virtually nonexistent), that didn't matter at all because the most beautiful beach was just a stone’s throw away. The host, Vasiliki, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable and pleasant stay. If the behavior and attitude of the owner/host are important to you when choosing accommodation, you’ve come to the right place. Not to mention the beautiful swimming pool within the complex – simply a bonus to an already amazing stay.

Cons: If we had to mention a downside, it would be the intense Cretan heat – for us Central Europeans, it can be a bit too much. From around noon to 4 PM, we really needed to stay indoors. Luckily, the air conditioning in the room was a lifesaver – perfectly tuned, quiet, and directed in a way that didn’t disturb sleep at night.

Pros: Beautiful studio in a great location. Everything is to hand, from the beach and tavernas to a good supermarket. We always have a car, but you could easily get by without one. 100% recommended

Pros: Our bungalow accommodation was superb right next to the pool, the beach was on the side road and the supermarket was on the main road. Quiet and peaceful absolutely amazing place.

We'd revisit this family run accommodation without hesitation.

Pros: The garden was beautiful and really well taken care of. A basic breakfast of croissants and coffee/ tea were provided on arrival which was considerate, considering out flight arrived in the late evening. Car rental was available on site which was convenient and available at short notice. The pool was clean and well kept, and our hosts were friendly and attentive when needed. The supermarket and bus stop were just a short walk away.

Pros: Lovely reasonably priced apartment. Very clean and well maintained. Nice bottle of wine and cake waiting on arrival. New pool area which was appreciated. I also liked the greenery and plants in the grounds.

Pros: Location, pool and the accomodation are all great.

Cons: Bathroom was a bit small, apart from that it was great.

Pros: The host makes you feel so welcome and takes care of even little things like the smell as you walk in is, it was just so welcoming and instantly lifted you. She was always there if you needed her for anything. The pool is amazing. Everything was just 5 out of 5 and you could not ask for more!
