Penny's Old Town Houses

Highly recommend. Beautiful apartment WITH roof terrace in AMAZING location

Pros: Amazing location, possibly the best in the city. Beautiful decor, tasteful and boutique feel. Loved the roof terrace, turned chairs to face opposite direction and lovely potted plants so as not to be overlooked. The stairs to the roof terrace are only for the sure footed and would benefit from a rail/ rope to hold on to. Highly recommend staying here.

Cons: Very attentive host but possibly too many messages. Hot shower was a bit temperamental and sometimes luke warm rather than hot.

Pros: Location was fabulous, the apartment was great split across three floors. Nice balcony for breakfast and a drink in the evening. Less than 50m from the waterfront. Easier to access from the harbour than the back street route.

Cons: Sign for the apartment could have bolder letters as we could not find it when we arrived

I felt comfortable.

Pros: The location was perfect for me. The apartment is in very much the best part of Chania Old Town, in my opinion — less crowded and more elegant than elsewhere. The interior of the apartment is modern, clean, cool and airy. The wooden build of the apartment’s interior, particularly of its staircases, is very attractive. Its balcony over the street and, notably, the deck/verandha on the top of the apartment are great spaces. And its owner, Penny, was professional and responded immediately when I managed, stupidly, to lock myself out of the apartment.

Pros: We had a wonderful stay at Penny’s house in Old Town Chania. The location was excellent tucked away in a quiet spot, yet just a short walk to both the harbour and the beaches. It was the perfect balance of peace and convenience. The place itself was tidy, and everything was in great condition, making it a really comfortable stay. Penny was fantastic with communication and went out of their way to help us find parking for our rental car which made things so much easier. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Chania!

Cons: My husband is over 6foot so had a little trouble with the small staircase however didn’t affect his comfort throughout his stay.

We had fantastic holiday and I definitely recommend Pennys house and all her service.

Pros: Pennys house is in perfect location, walking distance to old town, all shops, bus station and beach, but in the cosy little alley. Nice old building but with modern facilities, nice and quiet. Penny provides fantastic service, and responds immediately for any of ours requirements. And generally she is lovely lady. We stayed there for 10 days and I will definitely choose her accommodation again.

Cons: There was nothing I could complain about.

Pros: We liked everything, excellent location, very modern apartment with everything that you need, amazing private roof terrace, lovely balcony, very comfortable bed and extremely quiet in the heart of the old town, two minutes walk to the harbour and 10 minutes walk to the beach with lovely shops and restaurants nearby.

Cons: Everything was perfect. We would definitely like to go back.

Ideal place to stay for a short stay in Chania.

Pros: Top location, modern interior, cosy and quiet place in the heart of Chania.

Cons: Steep stairs to reach the bedroom.

Perfect Stay

Pros: The apartment was lovely, clean and 2 minutes from the harbour. Penny was so kind, checked on us throughout our stay as well as coming in mid week to clean.

Cons: Nothing, cannot fault the apartment, location or owner.

Perfect city stay with beach access and culture around every corner

Pros: I liked the modern and functional interior in an old/historical building. It’s well thought through, for a small space, they made the most of it. We had the downstairs apartment, with our outdoor seating on the walkway. Cafes, bars, the old harbor, and restaurants were just around the corners. The beaches were a 15 min walk away. We stayed 12 nights and the cleaning service happens every 3/4 days always after consultation with us as guests, so nothing to worry about here. The communication with Penny was very friendly, helpful and reliable.

Cons: The only thing to mention since it’s in the old city center, guests should be aware that it’s a busy area and there are always people walking by, some with suitcases. And since it’s a renovated building, the staircase for the upstairs apartment runs past/behind the downstairs apartment and it’s poorly soundproofed. So if you are a light sleeper just bring some earplugs and you’ll be fine.

Nice apartment in backstreets behind the harbour

Pros: The room is very well placed in one of the backstreets of the old town, just behind the harbour. Even so, it was very quiet, especially at night. It is a vertical apartment with the bathroom on one floor, then the bedroom plus balcony on the next floor, and finally a small terrace on the top floor. There is a windy staircase to get up and down the floors which would not be suitable for people of reduced mobility. The room was clean and quite modern and Penny, the host, is very helpful.
